The last round of public hearings for Bill 148 are happening and we need you to show support at Queen’s Park.
These hearings are open to the public. We need to pack Queen’s Park with labour and community allies to show that decent work matters to us. We need the best decent work bill we can get.
You will hear from labour and community about the changes we need to Bill 148, including better scheduling rights, stronger equal pay for equal work language and greater access to unionization. There are 12,000 OPSEU college faculty on strike right now, and one of their major demands is equal pay for equal work. This is our chance to make that language meaningful!
The Bill needs to go further, and this will be our last chance to make changes under the review of the bill before it becomes law after third reading. You will also see the big business lobby trying to argue that decent work will hurt the economy, but what they really mean is that it will hurt their pockets. That’s why we need to be there in full force!
*Note: Do not wear any visible campaign slogans on your shirt, bring a piece of identification (i.e., driver’s license, health card, etc.) We hope you can get there half an hour before the start of the hearing to make sure we fill the rooms first.
*If you plan to attend please let us know you are coming so we can let you know if there are any changes to the schedule!
