Workers organize for respect & a union at Trump Hotel

Forming a union in your workplace is an important way of having a voice at work and being protected when you speak up. Workers were successful in organizing to join Unite HERE Local 75 at the Trump Hotel in downtown Toronto.

It wasn’t easy – they faced employer intimation and harassment – but ultimately, the workers’ desire to have a voice at work won the day.

It doesn’t have to be so hard. Today’s employment laws are stacked against workers, in favour of employers, so that major barriers exist preventing workers from having greater rights on the job. We need card check certification so that when working women and men decide to exercise their rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms – they don’t have to fear harassment, intimidation and reprisal.

Watch the story of the Trump Hotel workers who won their union!
