OFL Pickets with Legal Aid Lawyers for Fairness and a Union

  OFL President ChrisBuckley proudly rallied with Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) lawyers, who for the second time in as many weeks, gathered outside a Liberal Party fundraiser in Toronto. The Society of Energy Professionals and organizers with the Fight for $15 and Fairness campaign joined the picketing Legal Aid lawyers to call on the Premier Kathleen Wynne and Attorney General Yasir Naqvi to end the discriminatory campaign against Legal Aid lawyers. Workers organize for respect & a union at Trump Hotel

Forming a union in your workplace is an important way of having a voice at work and being protected when you speak up. Workers were successful in organizing to join Unite HERE Local 75 at the Trump Hotel in downtown Toronto. It wasn’t easy – they faced employer intimation and harassment – but ultimately, the workers’ desire to have a voice at work won the day. Continue reading

The Ontario NDP Has Promised to #MakeItFair

On Wednesday, May 4, OFL representatives lobbied the Ontario NDP Caucus and secured a promise to bring in sweeping changes to labour law reform to #MakeItFair for every worker. The Ontario NDP is also the only provincial party to pledge support for a $15 minimum wage. It was part of an intensive province-wide lobby effort to put pressure on local politicians to support improvements to the province's employment laws to make it easier to join a union and to lift standards for every worker.
